The 20th edition of the World Cup for amateur drivers will be held next week at Florida’s Pompano Park and U.S. representative Joe Pennacchio will be aiming to make history. Woodbine Entertainment today announced that the inaugural Mohawk Million for 2-year-old trotters will officially be contested on Saturday (Sept. 26) at Woodbine Mohawk Park. The deadline to purchase one of nine slots in the Mohawk Million was Feb. 18 and Woodbine has received purchase contracts to fill all slots.
When it comes to earning a paycheck, Rockin Ron has never needed to worry about the venue. The 8-year-old pacer has a history of collecting money no matter the size of the racetrack, banking $1.65 million lifetime on his travels throughout the U.S. and Canada. The Ron Burke-trained gelding makes his 2020 debut Saturday at The Meadowlands in a $30,000 preferred handicap. It will be his first start since last August, when he was given time off to recuperate from small ailments that accumulated over time.
